Are you certified? We've unveiled a number of changes to the Line Judge process this year:
  • Line Judges who successfully pass the AwanaGames Line Judge Test or the Sparks-a-Rama Line Judge Test with a 90% or greater will become "certified" line judges and retain that title for three years.

  • Certified Line Judges will no longer be required to take the Line Judge test each year but will be encouraged to take advantage of refresher material - either at the Awana Ministry Conference or online through the AwanaGames resources page, including the new online Coach & Line judge training slides (in PDF and PPT format).

  • Line Judges that pass with at least a 70% will continue to be qualified line judges (both certified and qualified line judges must still follow the remaining Line Judge qualifications).

  • Next year (starting in the fall of 2008), in-person line judge and coach training will only be held at the regional Awana Ministry Conferences - we will not hold regional Coaches & judges meetings after this season. All registrations and team assignments will be handled through mail and phone correspondence with the Event Specialist.

Additional details are available on the Calendar page, the AwanaGames resources page or directly on the AwanaGames/Sparks-a-Rama registration form.

AwanaGames and Sparks-a-Rama Season! Conference season has passed and it's now time to start thinking about Sparks-a-Rama and AwanaGames! Four changes have been introduced this year:
  • New T&T Bible Quiz paddle usage rules
  • T&T Bible Quiz questions will be drawn from the 2007 edition of Books One and Two - no questions from the new Silver or Gold extra credit
  • All T&T AwanaGames teams across the region will now compete at Division 3 levels (Division 1 no longer available)
  • All Teen AwanaGames, T&T AwanaGames, and Sparks-a-Rama teams will be assigned team colors on the day of the event (no longer pre-registering team colors)
Additional details are available on the Calendar page or directly on the AwanaGames/Sparks-a-Rama registration form, the Bible Quiz registration form, or the Super Saturday registration form!

Awana in Space! If the space shuttle launches today as scheduled, Awana will achieve a milestone - the first known Meritorious Award recipient in space. Army Colonel Doug Wheelock, a mission specialist on the space shuttle Discovery flight STS-120 which launched Oct. 23rd and is scheduled to return on Nov. 6th, earned his Meritorious Award at West Windsor Baptist Church in Windsor, New York. Colonel Wheelock reportedly maintains a strong Christian testimony among his peers in the space program. [Read bio...] .

Send us your old cell phones and inkjet cartridges! Here's an easy way that you can help our regional Awana missionary and recycle some old stuff at the same time! Bill Bianco is now accepting any old cell phone (doesn't have to be working) or inkjet cartridge for a fundraising effort that he's starting. Bring them to any regional Awana event and drop them off at the registration table - it's as easy as that!

Have you heard about the new T&T Trading Cards?? - It is a new incentive program introduced as part of PowerUp to 'Get more of God's Word into more kids'. Packs of trading cards can be purchased through the Awana Ministry Guide Online and the official site includes descriptions of the cards, info on how to purchase them, games for kids, and places for clubbers to enter their trading card codes. There are also a limited number of special Gold Cards that if a clubber gets one AND finishes his/her handbook in a single club year, they receive a special prize from Awana (no charge to you)! A flyer (8.5"x11" - 651k) (PDF) and a poster (11"x17" - 10MB) are both available for download to help promote this program in your club.
